Winona-Ryder
Winona Ryder (born Winona Laura Hornowitz) was born in Winona Minnesota. She was named by her parents after the town in which she grew in. Michel Horowitz is her father and Cynthia Palmer is her mother. Ryder is a Jewish. Ryder believes that her father came from an ethnically Jewish background. The actress is also half-sister to Sunyata Jubal. Her older sibling is Uria. Ryder and her family relocated to California's Mendocino County, when Ryder was seven. The town didn't even have electricity. Ryder read a lot because of the lack of television. When she turned 12 years old, Ryder enrolled in the American Conservatory Theatre to take acting classes. Lucas, a 1986 film, was her first major role. Ryder was just 15 when she got it. Ryder was bullied throughout her high school years. Her hope was that her acting career would change the way she dealt with bullying. Sadly, this didn't occur. But she continued to pursue her goal. In 1988, she got her breakthrough role in Tim Burton's Beetlejuice. Ryder went on to have numerous roles that were successful. In 1993, she was nominated twice for Academy Awards. One of the nominations was for her part as a character in The Age of Innocence.
